We have the pleasure to present Raqs Sicilia International Oriental Dance Festival. We offer you renowed master teachers and sparkling shows. The 2008 programme is dedicated to oriental dance in all it's forms with over 70 hours of workshops featuring styles like Egyptian sharqi, Middle Eastern folklore and Tribal Belly Dance. The focus of Raqs Sicilia is on the diverse range of dances from the Middle Eastern region - creating a wonderful mix of styles.
Deepen your knowledge and passion for dancing, meet dancers across the globe and create a better climate for this fabolous art form. We welcome you to the second edition of Raqs Sicilia in one of the most beautiful historical and cultural locations of Palermo: La Tonnara Florio.
Shows will take place at the marvellous Tonnara Florio. A magical place with breath taking beauty to frame these days together.
Apart from hosting the dance activities, the Tonnara offers the possibility both to take a swim after class and to have a tasty plate of cous cous before the show.

During the three days of the festival Raqs Sicilia offers you a multitude of classes for novices, enthusiasts and professionals. We are proud to offer classes with famous Egyptian teachers such as Aida Nour, Lubna Emam and Tito Seif as well as European teachers like Lena Helt and Sandy D'Ali .
There is a long Arab-Italian history in Palermo with influeces of wich we know since the VII century. The big Arab conquest brought a long period of peace and prosperity, with Arabic as lingua franca palermo became the capital of arts, poetry and litterature...
Addaura Hotel: situated by the sea, close to the center of Palermo and the festival area. There will be spacial fees for the Raqs Sicilia participants
